Purpose
The Ambassadors Cross-Training Academy (ACTA) is designed to provide STC faculty and staff with the opportunity to continually improve their knowledge of all aspects of the College and increase their ability to assist students and colleagues. Ambassadors (cross-trained employees) will help to:
- Eliminate roadblocks for students and employees
- Provide better assistance to their colleagues
- Create greater transparency, understanding and collegiality among all areas of STC
Audience
South Texas College faculty and staff with at least one year’s experience as an employee.
Time Commitment
ACTA participants will meet for 10 sessions during the spring semester. Each session is 3 hours in duration.
Format
A mix of online and in person sessions.
Benefits
Participants will gain in-depth information and understanding of other departments and divisions and how their roles support the mission of South Texas College. Participants will also engage in team-building activities to broaden their network of colleagues across departments and divisions. A variety of STC departments across divisions provide essential information related to:
- Recruiting and welcoming new students.
- Helping students overcome obstacles to completion.
- Wrap-around support services.
- Technology support.
- Student resources to support further achievement of career or educational goals.
- Campus security.
- Facilities and other essential infrastructure.
- College governance.
ACTA participants who complete ACTA are eligible to apply for the Distinguished Leadership Academy (DLA).
