Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic assistance program that uses peer-facilitated study sessions to improve student retention and success within targeted "historically difficult" courses. Students meet with their SI Leader outside of class lecture for SI study sessions to review course material using a variety of study techniques.

How do the SI sessions help students?

Students have the opportunity to become actively involved in the course material because SI leaders use creative learning techniques to reinforce the text, supplementary readings and lecture notes. Sessions also cover study strategies such as note taking, graphic organization, questioning techniques, vocabulary acquisition and test preparation.
