Dental Hygiene
Coming soon to South Texas College.
Dental hygienists work alongside licensed dentists to provide preventive care, perform clinical procedures, and educate patients to improve oral and overall health. They help identify, treat, and prevent oral diseases, playing a vital role in promoting good hygiene practices and supporting patient wellness.
Upon successful completion of the Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene, graduates will be eligible to sit for the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE), and a regional clinical examination approved by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, both of which are required for licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in Texas.
Students will attend in-person daytime classes at the Health Science Professions Campus.
Note: Program pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
General admission to the College does not imply admission to all programs of the College. The Health Science Professions Division offers Selective Programs with application requirements. Application requirements are included in the description of each program. In addition, some Selective Programs have a Competitive Entry selection process based on a competitive point system.
