South Texas College is dedicated to helping you to overcome challenges and successfully complete your academic journey. Stay On Track provides personalized support, resources and guidance designed to help you navigate the complexities of college life.
Scholarship & Support
Stay On Track addresses the unique barriers you face; including academic, financial, social or personal, by connecting you with tailored advising, proactive monitoring and early intervention. Stay On Track offers guidance and support if you're at risk of losing financial aid and helps you get back on track with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
Why Apply?
Stay On Track is intended for students who have been placed on Financial Aid Suspension or Warning.
If you did not reach the 67% credit hour requirement for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), you may qualify for assistance.

Program Eligibility
To qualify for the Stay On Track scholarship, students must:
- Be a Texas resident, residing in Hidalgo or Starr County.
- Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Be on Financial Aid Suspension due to not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.
- Be on track to regain financial aid eligibility by the end of the term.
Deadline
Your deadline to enroll for classes is August 25, 2025 (first day of class).
Payment arrangements must be made by September 10, 2025 (the 12th class day).

- What is the Stay On Track program?
Stay On Track offers guidance and support to students who are at risk of losing their financial aid and helps them get back on track and remain in good Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) by providing personalized advising, financial literacy, and a clear path to continue their education. A one-time scholarship assistance is available to students who are on financial aid suspension due to not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.

Students who have been placed on financial aid suspension or financial aid warning may receive one-on-one support from Student Connections staff. Students who do not meet the 67% credit hour requirement for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), may qualify for scholarship assistance.
- What does the scholarship cover?
The Stay On Track Scholarship is a one-time award to help pay tuition.

- What does SAP mean and how does it affect me?
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is a federal requirement that states a student must meet and maintain good academic standards in their program of study in order to be eligible for Federal and State aid. A student must meet these standards regardless of whether financial aid is awarded each semester. Falling below these standards may result in a financial aid suspension.
- Can I apply if I already submitted a financial aid appeal?
Yes! If you are already in the appeal process, or if your appeal has been denied, Stay On Track may still be available to help.
- Will this program cover future semesters?
No, the Stay On Track scholarship is a one-time support program. However, the academic plan and advising you receive will help set you up for future financial aid eligibility and connect you to resources and tools that you can continue to use.
