South Texas College provides the opportunity for kids to explore and expand their interests and skills through engaging, hands-on activities. Our diverse camp offerings are designed to keep minds sharp while having fun. Bring your child so they can get involved in a wide range of camps.
For your convenience, camps are held throughout the Rio Grande Valley at our Pecan, Mid-Valley, Starr County and Technology campuses, including Pecan Plaza.

This 12-hour beginner-friendly camp is designed especially for kids who want to explore the fun of cupcake and cookie decorating. Students will learn how to prepare piping bags, mix and color frosting, and use a variety of decorating tips and techniques. Throughout the camp, participants will create and decorate cookies and cupcakes based on different fun themes, building their creativity and confidence along the way.

They'll create unique bracelets, necklaces, and keychains while learning color coordination, patterns, and simple techniques. This camp introduces students to the fundamentals of robotics and coding using LEGO SPIKE Prime kits. Participants will build and program interactive models while learning key concepts such as sensors, motors, and block-based coding. Through hands-on challenges, students will develop problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking skills while exploring real-world applications of robotics and engineering.
Youth STEM Program Eligibility:
The eligible population to be served by this program are students who:
- Have progressed to grade six (6);
- Have not yet graduated from grade twelve (12); and
- Have a valid Social Security Number and U.S. citizenship.
- Copies of the student's Social Security card and U.S. Passport/Birth Certificate will be required for verification purposes.

The "Superpower" Approach (Focus on Confidence) "Have you ever had a great idea but were too nervous to say it? Or felt like no one was listening to you? This camp is about turning your voice into a tool. We’re going to learn how to walk into any room, stand in front of any group, and speak so clearly that people have to listen. This hands-on, one-day creative camp introduces participants to the art of toy photography—turning everyday toys into dynamic storytelling subjects. Students will learn how to use lighting, angles, composition, and simple backgrounds to create imaginative and visually compelling scenes. Participants will explore how to build miniature “worlds” using toys they already love, while developing foundational photography skills that can be applied to any camera or smartphone. The session blends creativity and technique, encouraging students to think like visual storytellers and experiment with perspective and scale. No prior photography experience is required—just imagination and a favorite toy.

The Brain Hack (Personal) uses writing as a tool for reflection, helping students strengthen mindset, organization, and confidence.
