Turkey Trot

The Kinesiology Department at South Texas College kindly invites the public to run, walk or trot at the annual Turkey Trot held the weekend before the Thanksgiving holiday. The family-friendly race consists of a 2.2-mile course which begins at the STC Cooper Center for Communication Arts building located on the north side of the Pecan Campus at 3200 W. Pecan in McAllen, Texas. Registration is held on-site and the race will go on rain or shine. Goody bags and t-shirts are available until supplies last. Turkey prizes for the top 3 females and top 3 males are awarded. Strollers, children, pets on a leash and turkey costumes are welcome.

The Turkey Trot has brought the community together with the goal of raising awareness of living a healthy, active lifestyle and giving to others that are in need during the holiday season. The entry fee is only a small donation of non-perishable food items. The Kinesiology Department has been working closely with the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley and all donations are contributed to their organization. Over the past 10 years a total of 12,000 pounds of food has been donated. This event could not be made possible without the support of the STC community, volunteers and all of the trotters.
