How We Help Finish what you started!
If you were once an STC student and paused your education, then JagReconnect is for you. It’s a last-dollar match program that will help cover your tuition, pay off outstanding STC debt (for qualifying candidates) and get you back on track to a college degree.

Scholarship Eligibility
- Must not have attended any other higher education institution in the semester prior to reenrollment.
- Be a Texas resident, residing in Hidalgo or Starr County.
- Have a declared major and only enroll in courses listed on your degree plan.
- Complete a certificate, associate, or bachelor’s degree within two consecutive semesters. You must enroll in at least six credit hours each semester (unless you earn your credential in a single semester).
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
Fall 2025 Deadlines
- July 1, 2025 - Deadline to submit the Ready to Reconnect form.
- August 1, 2025 - Deadline to complete eligibility requirements.
- Any deadlines for your program/major still apply.

- Let us know you're Ready to Reconnect by sharing your contact info.
- Submit the ApplyTexas application and provide official transcripts from any other schools you attended.
- File your FAFSA form.
You'll meet with one of our College Navigators - an enrollment expert that will verify your eligibility and help you throughout the process. Together you'll plan one or two semesters to finish the last courses remaining on your degree plan and find ways to cover other expenses to help ease your financial concerns.
Before you know it you'll be registered for classes and graduation will be in sight.

- What is JagReconnect?
JagReconnect is a last-dollar initiative to help former STC students complete their credential that are near completion. The program will connect qualifying students with dedicated support staff who will help you navigate the process through the finish line.
- How will I know if I am selected?
A College Navigator will communicate with you. They will review your admissions record to ensure all requirements are met. You will want to check your JagNet account to review the JagReconnect award.
- Do I have to apply and qualify for Financial Aid to be eligible?
A requirement of JagReconnect is for the student to submit a financial aid application. This can be the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A College Navigator or Financial Aid representative can assist you in the process.
- If selected, how much aid can I receive?
Funds will apply on your student account to cover any remaining balance of tuition and fees, after federal, state and institutional aid has been awarded.
- Do I need to be in my last semester to qualify?
To be eligible for JagReconnect, you will need to be enrolled in your last 1-2 semesters to complete a college credential.
- What type of courses can I enroll in?
The coursework must be part of the degree plan you are pursuing. Courses can include courses with four credit hours, such as Life and Physical Sciences (BIOL 2401) and Mathematics (1414).
- What does "last dollar funding" mean?
The grant covers the tuition or the cost of classes after all federal, state or institutional grants are applied. Grant funding does not include the cost of textbooks or other learning materials.
- What are the benefits of JagReconnect?
JagReconnect offers students the opportunity of financial assistance to cover prior institution tuition debt, personalized support from a College Navigator and wrap-around services to complete their credential at South Texas College.
- How do I apply?
Getting started is easy! First, it's strongly recommended to meet with a College Navigator to ensure all requirements of the program are met.
