The demand for licensed truck drivers is skyrocketing. South Texas College Commercial Truck License Institute will now provide the RGV with qualified drivers to meet this need. Program Details
- Classes are scheduled for Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. (no evening or weekends).
- The program costs $3,988.00 (includes tuition, books, insurances, drug screen and physical).

Requirements
- Have a valid Texas driver's license (Class C).
- Be 18 years old (to drive in-state) or 21 years old (to drive out of state).
- Understand, read and speak basic English.
Documents Needed
- 2 proofs of residence.
- Birth certificate or evidence of lawful presence.
- Social Security card.
- A 3-year Driving History Record from the Texas Department of Public Safety which can be requested at https://www.dps.texas.gov/section/driver-license/how-order-driver-record. The cost is $12 and is paid directly to DPS.
Financial Assistance

If you do not qualify for assistance from WFS, financial aid is also available for those who qualify. Financial aid only covers part of the cost of the program. The student is responsible for the balance.

After graduation from this program, the student will be:
- Qualified to secure an entry level job as an over-the road driver with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Aware of safety procedures; alcohol and drug effects; laws and penalties applicable to the professional driver.
- Proficient at performing pre-trip, on the road, and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Skillful in safe driving techniques.
- Capable of map reading, log books, cargo documentation, dispatch procedures, emergency responsibilities and regulations, and regulations of transportation agencies.
- Able, as interstate, to travel all 48 states and Canada in all kinds of weather and terrain.
