Two-Year Youth Apprenticeships

  • Local employers in a variety of industries are offering high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to get paid to learn as youth apprentices.
  • Youth apprentices receive paid on-the-job training along with job-related college training at South Texas College.

Students in two-year apprenticeships will receive:

  • Two years of part-time paid employment and mentoring from an industry professional.
  • A high school diploma (if not already granted).
  • Two years of industry recognized credentials and continuing education units (CEUs) from South Texas College.
  • Dual credit courses as applicable.
  • A completion certificate for coursework that may be applied to an associate degree.
  • National credentials from the U.S. Department of Labor.
  • Two years of work experience.
  • Marketable skills for life.

Eligibility

  • Be a junior, senior or graduating senior.
  • Be at least 16 years of age.
  • Be willing and able to commit to the full two years of the program.
  • Be referred by school.
  • Have a reliable transportation to work and to school.
  • Be legally able to work in the U.S.
