Academics at South Texas College

In 12 short years, South Texas College has grown from 1,000 to nearly 17,000 students, and from a faculty and staff of 267 to 1664.  The college has also grown from one campus to five campuses and centers. STC has campuses in McAllen, Weslaco and Rio Grande City as well as the Dr. Ramiro R. Casso Nursing and Allied Health Center in McAllen, and the Technology Center in south McAllen near the Foreign Trade Zone.

Today the institution offers 90 degree and certificate program options.

Developmental Studies

The Developmental Studies Program assists students in acquiring the necessary skills to pass the Texas Higher Education Assesment (THEA) and successfully continue college level study. Furthermore, the Developmental Studies Faculty strives to create a sensitive environment that is conducive to learning by providing academic, personal, and professional support to the students, staff and faculty of South Texas College, as well as the community.

Division of Business, Math, Science and Technology

The Division of Business, Math, Science & Technology offers a wide range of institutional awards, certificates and degrees that offer students the best education and training possible for the dynamic learning and working environment that exists today. Studies can include career preparation, upgrading of skills and personal enrichment, as well as courses that help to fulfill the general education core curriculum of associate and baccalaureate degrees for transfer to other colleges and universities.

Division of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

The Division of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is dedicated to promoting personal growth through life-long learning. The division's course offerings are designed to promote the interdisciplinary approach, allowing students to gain an understanding of the social, historical, political, cultural forces, and wellness factors that interact in the development of a human being and the world in general.

Division of Nursing and Allied Health

South Texas College is a learner centered division committed to education of healthcare professionals. STC’s Nursing and Allied Health programs combine the highest quality instructional with clinical experience in both hospital and community settings.
