Two-Year Youth Apprenticeships
- Local employers in a variety of industries are offering high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to get paid to learn as youth apprentices.
- Youth apprentices receive paid on-the-job training along with job-related college training at South Texas College.
Students in two-year apprenticeships will receive:
- Two years of part-time paid employment and mentoring from an industry professional.
- A high school diploma (if not already granted).
- Two years of industry recognized credentials and continuing education units (CEUs) from South Texas College.
- Dual credit courses as applicable.
- A completion certificate for coursework that may be applied to an associate degree.
- National credentials from the U.S. Department of Labor.
- Two years of work experience.
- Marketable skills for life.
Eligibility
- Be a junior, senior or graduating senior.
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Be willing and able to commit to the full two years of the program.
- Be referred by school.
- Have a reliable transportation to work and to school.
- Be legally able to work in the U.S.
