Welcome Center
Located on the various South Texas College campuses, the Welcome Center is dedicated to create an inviting and welcoming environment for prospective students and entering freshmen. The STC Welcome Center serves as an initial one-stop location to visit and obtain answers to questions about the College.
Students can find information about admission, advising, registration, financial aid, student life, degree and certificate programs and other services available. Staff members are ready to answer questions, direct students, and assist in completing necessary paperwork. Computer terminals are also available for Online Orientation. The Welcome Center strives to eliminate many of the initial barriers that prevent students from starting college.
Goals:
1. To make students feel welcome – even special – at South Texas College
2. To serve as a one-stop location for students to call and/or visit in order to obtain answers to their questions about attending STC
3. To explain the requirements on becoming a new student
4. To provide information and forms for academic and student services programs
5. To provide initial review of student needs and meet as many of these needs as possible with Welcome Center staff
6. To explain how to navigate the college system and help overcome the barriers
7. To provide a pleasant place to relate to the college and develop a feeling of belonging and school spirit
