The STC Jaguar Journey
All new students at South Texas College are required to attend New Student Orientation. Orientation is designed to give new students the knowledge and preparation to succeed during their enrollment at the college. STC offers orientation in two forms:
On-campus and Online:
On-Campus Orientation takes place before the first day of class. Aside from being informed on college resources, students are given a tour of the campus and are given the opportunity to get their student ID and parking permit. If you prefer to complete the orientation at one of our On-Campus sessions check the Orientation Schedule for times.
For students who are unable to attend an On-Campus session, STC is now providing orientation online. Online orientation is available 24/7 and can be accessed from any computer with Internet access.
Before you start the Online Orientation, you must:
• Apply for admission
• Complete your placement testing.
Your computer needs:
• Macromedia Flash player. You must have a current version 6.0.79 or higher of the Flash Player or you will have difficulties viewing the orientation. Go here to check and/or upgrade your Flash Player for free - it usually takes less than a minute.
• Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher or Netscape version 6.0 or higher, with Javascript turned on.
• Adobe Acrobat Reader

When you sign into the orientation, spend a few minutes reviewing the tutorial page. Get acquainted with the functions of the software before you begin the actual orientation.
Online Orientation has eight sections and each section has multiple pages. You will also be asked to follow links to important Web sites and to view and print important documents. After the last section, you will take a brief quiz to show you have reviewed and understood the information.
When you have successfully completed the orientation and quiz, you may go to any STC campus and meet with an advisor to talk about your course selection and register for classes.
