New Faculty Academy

The New Faculty Academy (NFA) was designed to help New Faculty become part of the STC family. It will provide you with support, guidance and training as you transition into your role of Instructor. You will receive information on available resources, policies, procedures and effective teaching strategies. It will also provide you with many opportunities for professional development.

Participation

Participation in the New Faculty Academy is required your first year at STC. It will provide you with information and resources you need to serve our students effectively.

Benefits

The NFA will also provide you with the opportunity to share your successes and challenges with your colleagues. Each session will have an “STC Expert” in attendance to answer all your questions about the College.

In addition, there will be a Great Teachers Retreat held at the beginning of the Spring Semester for New Faculty to give you the opportunity to reflect on your best teaching practices and to share those experiences with your colleagues.

Time Commitment

There are a total of ten (10) NFA Sessions held throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. Each session is 1.5 hours long and the agendas are packed with useful information. Participation in the NFA will fulfill your College Service Hours during the first year.
