11. REVIEWING

Immediately after a lecture, while it is still fresh in your mind, review your lecture notes. If you have time, recopy your notes after each lecture.
Make notations where you may have missed some information, then check the text book or get together with a study partner to fill in those blanks.

Do NOT go to your instructor and expect that he or she will complete your notes for you.

That evening read your text book, study guide or handouts as a review of the lecture presented that very day. Do not wait a whole week to finally review the material. It will be even worse if you wait until the night just before the exam to review the material. Cramming the night before an exam will still probably earn you no better than a 'C' at best, yet it may seem to you that you have spent hours doing very hard laborious work, when in fact all that blood, sweat and tears was primarily due to poor planning and bad study habits.

In general, plan to spend about 2-3 hours per weekreviewing and studying for every unit of class credit. (For a 4 credit hour biology class this means 8 - 12 hours per week, or 70 - 100 minutes per day.)
