1. Course Description
This is a study of the structure and function of the human body including cells, tissues, and organs of the following systems: integumentary, skeletal, muscular and nervous systems.
Prerequisite: BIOL 1408 or LVNU 1402
I. Basic Concepts of the Human body (Competencies 1, 2, and 3)
II. Histology (Competency 4)
III. Integumentary System (Competency 5)
IV. Skeletal System (Competency 6)
V. Muscular System (Competency 7)
VI. Nervous System (Competency 8)
1. Describe and apply anatomical terminology. (I)
2. Describe multicellular organization. (I)
3. Identify the components and explain the importance of homeostasis, and give specific examples for the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. (I, III, IV, V, VI)
4. Name, distinguish, and describe the structure of the major tissue types, and outline their functions. (II)
5. Describe the structure and function of the integumentary system. (III)
6. Describe the structure and function of the skeletal system. (IV)
7. Describe the structure and function of the muscular system. (V)
8. Describe the structure and function of the nervous system, including the special senses. (VI)
