x Internet is a good thing?

x View the x video below about the Internet. It is best if you have fast Internet connection. Sometimes these YouTube links disappear. Please let the instructor know if this happens.)
Enjoy!

x Video Viewing

x The x video is still a work in progress. We will have special Blackboard Class Discussions/Reflections about the x videos, which have been selected to help you learn about the topic covered in the video.

x STC computers or library computers usually have the speakers disabled, so in order to hear the x videos you must use headphones. Many students use their iPod earphones.

x The x videos are selected with the intent to expose environmental biology students to certain areas of environmentally related concerns -- as selected by the instructor. To receive a grade for viewing the x videos you must participate in the Class Discussion/Reflection about the videos.

x The nature of x is such that videos and/or sound of videos disappears often without warning. Pick another one. The x videos you are watching is actually NOT located on my web site or on Blackboard. They are all located on x -- only LINKED through a process called "embedding" to my web site or Blackboard. If a video disappears I try to replace it -- if I notice. (I appreciate if you inform me if a video has disappeared -- IN THE CLASS HELP DESK.)

x I personally don't remove these videos -- unless I don't want students to view them anymore (but then I remove the whole link with screen and everything). Since they are NOT really on the class pages. The person who posted them on YouTube may removed them, or the web masters at YouTube may removed them -- usually because of some copyright problem or violation of posting rules.

x You must go to the reading assignments and find the videos and view them. Then navigate to the x class discussion module (if you found this page navigating Blackboard you have found the correct module). Then start a discussion for a video that you feel like discussing. As like the general rule for all these Class Discussions/Reflections, you must place at least ONE message in each of the video bulletin boards. If the instructor has to initiate a discussion he will do so. Let's have fun discussion these videos.

x Remember the Class Discussion grading criterion for all class discussions (not just the videos) --- the Minimum Postings Category I states that you must post minimum 1 message in each bulletin board. To help you get an overview, not just of the x videos, at the beginning of the semester I suggest that you navigate Blackboard and make a list of the discussion bulletin boards.

x Which Videos Should You Watch?

x video note: I hope you will watch all x videos. However, because all students do not have access to high-speed internet connection at home, you are not required to view all x videos, and there are no longer any mandatory videos. Pick the videos you wish to discuss yourself. If you do not have high-speed Internet connection it is recommended that you use an STC computer to view these videos. Hybrid students will watch some of the videos during classroom meetings.

x I am trying to remove old instructions to view "mandatory" YouTube videos. If you find one -- ignore. Pick the videos you wish to discuss yourself, as long as you pick one from each discussion bulletin board. Since there are several, don't worry if a particular video is not working -- that is the nature of YouTube. Pick another one. (But I appreciate if you will let me know, so that I can replace that non-working video for next semester...) Enjoy!
