You may PRINT this page and use it to record your grades, but before printing it read it first and click on all links. Note that the instructor will not post grades. Some assignments are graded by Blackboard and are automatically posted in "My Grades". Other assignments are not graded but have progress statistics posted in "My progress" on Blackboard. To get the grade compare the statistics with the numbers given for these assignments in the Grading Criteria on the Class Hub page. Add the numbers together -- a perfect score is 100, minimum 90 is an A, minimum 80 is a B, and so on. There is also for your convenience a notation space for deadlines, which you can obtain in the Semester Calendar on Class Hub page. Your final course grade will be reported as a letter grade to STC at a date required by the college at the end of the semester, and will not be posted by the instructor. (Most students get their final course grade on JAG-net or via regular mail from the college.)
All Assignments (100p):
Category I. Introduction and Reading Assignments (total 13p) Textbook Figure Discussions are to help students become familar with the textbook. Grades are not posted. To fill in this category student should make sure they have an original post and the required replies to other students in the assigned bulletin boards -- then do a self-grading following the grading criteria and/or the assignment (you know if you have posted, right, so if you post according to the instructions (see the Grading Criteria) -- you earn 100). (For some discussions you may earn a zero if your don't spell correctly or do not post the minimum number of words required.) The Evolution Worksheet Quiz, and the Class Discussion Key Quiz are both submitted on the Town Hall course shell and graded by Blackboard -- see "My Grades" on the Town hall. The minimum passing grade for the Evolution Worksheet Quiz is 90 (which will earn you 100 percent). A grade below 90 will earn you a 0 (zero). The minimum passing grade for the Class Discussion Key Quiz is 100. (You cannot participate in the General Class Discussion without a passing grade for the Class Discussion Key Quiz, and you cannot participate in the Town Hall Meeting without a passing grade for the Evolution Worksheet Quiz.
Category II. Textbook Chapter Quizzes (total 17p) The Textbook Chapter Quizzes are submitted on and graded by Blackboard, see "My Grades". The minimum passing grade for each quiz is 90 (which will earn you 100 percent or 1 point). A grade below 90 will earn you a 0 (zero). Quiz 2 will not become visible until you pass quiz 1 with a minimum 90, and so on... (To EARN a point for quiz 15 you must EARN a minimum 90.)

Category III. Case Studies (total 8p)
Category IV. Field Lab Project (total 10p) Grade will not be posted. To fill in this category student must do a self-grading following the grading criteria and/or the assignment instruction page. All required items must be submitted -- on time -- for points. If all items have not been submitted the project will not be graded -- but the instructor MAY in some cases give an incomplete project a 40 (not graded, but given to separate it from students not turning in anything).
Category V. Geography Drill (total 10p)
Category VI. General Class Discussions (total 11p) Your discussion progress is posted on Blackboard, however, it is probably best to keep track of your own messages yourself without depending on Blackboard telling you how much you have posted. To fill in this category you must do a self-grading following the grading criteria and/or the assignment instruction page.
Category VII. Town Hall Meeting (total 11p) Your discussion progress is posted on Blackboard, however, it is probably best to keep track of your own messages yourself without depending on Blackboard telling you how much you have posted. To fill in this category you must do a self-grading following the grading criteria and/or the assignment instruction page.
Category VIII. Endterm (Final) Exam (total 10p) Your Endterm Exam grade will be posted in "My Grades" .
Category IX. Learning Self-Assessment (total 10p) Grade will not be posted. To fill in this category student must do a self-grading following the grading criteria and/or the assignment instruction page. All students following the instructions will EARN 100. The required format must be followed for points. If all required assignment categories have not been submitted the project will not be graded -- but the instructor MAY in some cases give an incomplete Learning Self-Assessment a 40 (not graded, but given to separate it from students not turning in the assignment).
