This page is under construction, but some FAQ (and answers) are provided below.

Curved grades? Do you curve test grades?

Answer: No, but there may be "grade boosters" for deserving students. See the syllabus or the grade recorder for details. (Not all students qualify.)

Emergency? If I have a family emergency, do I have to call in?

Answer: No, but it is very important that you inform me when you get back to class.

Poor handwriting? I was told that I have poor handwriting. Why is handwsriting important in a biology class?

Answer: Check out this web page.

Poor handwriting? Do we have class today?

Answer: This is one of those questions instructors hope not to get from students -- but it should be on the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page, because it or similar questions are asked so often. It means that the student asking either did not pay attention in class, or do not use the handouts instructors have spent late night hours to make available for students. An example of such a document is the Semester Calendar! You must regularly keep an eye on the Semester Calendar? (And when you do make sure it is the last edition if a revised edition has been handed out.) It would have taken much less of my time to just answer the student's question, but then learning might not have taken place, and learning is the name of the game. However, since this is now a FAQ question I can direct students to this page...

Sick? If I am sick, do I have to call in?

Answer: No, but it is very important that you inform me when you get back to class. (Besides, when you are sick you don't want to make any phone calls -- stay in bed!)
