STC Represented On State Leadership Committee
Anahid Petrosian, interim assistant to the Vice President for Instructional Services, has been selected to serve a three year term on the Leadership Advisory Committee of the Texas State Leadership Consortium for Professional Development. The consortium operates under the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and is funded by the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act of 1998 for the advancement of career and technical education in the state.
In November, Petrosian and Lee H. Grimes, current STC Professional Development coordinator, attended the Texas State Leadership Consortium meeting in Austin. As part of the Consortium mandate and in partnership with the Texas Collaborative, Grimes will be directing two Leadership Academies in the spring. Both Academies will be held at the Sheraton South Padre Island Beach Hotel.
The South Texas Leadership Academy will be held March 31-April 1, 2006. This academy will focus on providing leadership training for community college personnel. The Teaching for Learning Academy will be held May 5-6.. This Academy will provide sessions on classroom teaching innovations and geared toward community college faculty.
