STC Valley Scholars program has ten spots open for fall 2006

STC's Valley Scholars Program is seeking ten additional students for fall 2006. Valley Scholars is an academic excellence scholarship program providing leadership and employment opportunities on campus, individualized advisement and registration and transfer scholarship opportunities.

To be eligible for this scholarship program, students must:

  • Graduate as a member of the top 10% of their graduating class
  • Graduate from an accredited Hidalgo or Starr County high school
  • Be TSI (Texas Success Initiative) College Ready or TSI Exempt
  • Submit a completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application to the STC Financial Aid Office
  • Request their SAR (Student Analysis Report) be sent to the STC Financial Aid Office

    • If you are interested, please submit a completed application packet to the Academic Excellence Office at STC's Pecan Campus (Administration Building, Room 105). The packet must include the following items:

  • A completed Valley Scholars Application, which can be downloaded at: www.southtexascollege.edu/valleyscholars/pdf/application
  • An unofficial high school and college transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A copy of TSI completion test scores or exemption
  • A copy of a current SAR
