My work in health education and promotion, and prevention programs for minority and migrant populations in the US has received professional recognition: the 2010 Nursing/Allied Health Employee of the Year Award, the 2006 Jaguar Award in Recognition of Professional Excellence, Healthy People 2010 Projects Award, US-Mexico Border Health Commission Models of Excellence, Colorado Governor's Recognition for Prevention Programs, the Passion for Justice Award, Recognition for Serving Children & Families in Need, and the South Texas Promotora Association Recognition for Dedication, Service, and Support.

I dedicate most of my time to look for creative ways to deliver and disseminate information to the healthcare workforce on minority health issues and to connect academia with communities to help reduce health disparities.
