Definitions

  STC – South Texas College.
 
  Campus – The property under control of the College.
 
  Student – Any person duly registered, enrolled and attending classes at South Texas College
  (including ACE students, part-time students and auditing students). 
 
  Employee – Faculty/Staff of the College. 
 
  Visitor – Any person who has no affiliation, association, connection, or relationship with the
  College as a student, staff and faculty member. 
 
  Parking Permit – Refers to the self-adhering permit issued only by the Facilities Department. A
  permit shall be displayed on all vehicles parked on campus. 
 
  Vehicles – Includes automobiles, buses, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, motor scooters, motorbikes,
  mopeds, bicycles and tractors.
 
  Substitute Vehicle – A vehicle not registered with the Operations Department, but being
  operated on College property by a student, or faculty/staff member on a temporary basis. 
 
  Temporary Permit – Refers to a hanging tag issued for five working days by the Operations  
  Department for a substitute vehicle.
 
  Driver – Any person who drives, operates or is in actual physical control of a vehicle. 
 
  Appeal – The process in which a ticket is to be contested. Form can be picked up at the
  Operations Department or at Student Information Center (after hours).
 
  Appeal Committee – Person (s) responsible of reviewing appeals. 
 
  Student Parking – Any white or yellow-lined parking space not marked “reserved”, “visitor”,
  “disabled”, “maintenance”, or “fire lane”. 
 
  Reserved Parking – Any white or yellow-lined parking space marked “reserved” not including  
  “visitor”, “disabled”, “maintenance”, or “fire lane”. Can be occupied by any faculty/staff member
  of the college.
