Communication Guide

COMMUNICATING WITH YOUR INSTRUCTOR

College instructors may or may not check attendance, will never check your notes and will hardly check to see if you are keeping up with your  work. That is your responsibility!  They expect you to grow intellectually and maintain high standards.  Consequently, you have to study more hours than you did in high school.

Below are some helpful tips for obtaining success in your classes:

DO'S
DONT'S
  • ATTEND CLASS REGULARLY
  • Follow directions
  • Read
  • Make up work you missed
  • Participate in class
  • Learn to deal with all kinds of    instructors
  • Sit at the front of the classroom
  • Make excuses
  • Be absent
  • Be late
  • Set blame
  • Lie on your desk during class  looking bored
  • Submit assignments late
  • Be afraid to ask questions in class
  • Mismanage your academic freedom

Remember that communication with your instructor/professor may mean the difference between staying in the class or possibly being dropped. You're not the only student the instructor is responsible for.

Unless you have missed too many class periods and too assignments, chances are that your instructor will work with you.

THE KEY IS TO COMMUNICATE!
