Welcome to the

for the Division of Developmental Studies.
The Developmental Studies Program assists students in acquiring
the necessary skills to pass the Texas Higher Education Assesment
(THEA) and successfully continue college level study. Furthermore,
the Developmental Studies Faculty strives to create a sensitive
environment that is conducive to learning by providing academic,
personal, and professional support to the students, staff
and faculty of South Texas College, as well as the community.
The Developmental Studies Program accomplishes this mission
through developmental courses in Reading, English, Mathematics,
and College Success. In addition to the offered coursework,
counseling, tutoring, study skill seminars and workshops,
and computer-assisted instruction are also available.
The Developmental Program responds dynamically to the multicultural
Student body and community it serves and takes pride in providing
equal educational opportunities.
