The Cooper Center For Communication Arts
The Cooper Center for Communication Arts is named in honor of Edwynne G. Cooper and her son Edward “Ned” Pillow Cooper. The Center is partially funded by a generous donation of $1.35 million from Mrs. Cooper, a long time McAllen resident who bequeathed the donation to honor her son Ned, a Navy Lieutenant, who died December 5, 1971, while serving his country during the Vietnam War. The Cooper Center, a showcase for South Texas College’s Pecan Campus, has a 197 seat theater, 200 person capacity conference area, an instructional theater, classrooms and faculty offices.
