Local High School Music Performances

Come enjoy the sounds and talent of our local high school musicians.  Several schools will be performing throughout the day.

Living History Festival

Showcasing actors in period dress from the 1800s, and a display of Mexican-American War and Indian artifacts

Visit with staff, learn about tutoring programs.

“Merrienda” reception for artist Roel Flores
Library (Building E)
Meet the artist and enjoy his exhibit “Hard Work: The Good Side,” an exhibit featuring his acrylic on canvas paintings. At 4:30 p.m. Mr. Flores will speak informally about his art.

Slam Dunk for Education
Library (Building E)
Bring the kids and let them slam dunk for prizes with Matt Palmquist, former UTPA basketball player and RGV Silverados assistant coach

Sign up for free a community library card, participate in scavenger hunts and games, enjoy story time and participate in arts and crafts, view the art of Valley-native Roel Flores on exhibit in the Library Art Gallery.

Distinguished poet Dr. Manuel Medrano
Auditorium, North Academic Building (Building G)
Dr. Manuel Medrano, professor of history at The University of Texas at Brownsville and distinguished poet, will read from his collection of poetry and discuss its themes of historical, cultural, geographic, and genealogical issues surrounding the lives of families living on the border.
