Social Sciences: Sociology
The Social Sciences investigate human behavior and interactions of humankind within both local and global environments. Students enrolling in this program will be able to choose between the Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or Anthropology concentration. Completion of the recommended course work for either concentration will lead to an Associate of Arts degree.
The Associate of Arts in Social Sciences is an excellent transfer program since the core curriculum parallels the first two years of most four-year social science degrees. Those who choose the Sociology concentration are interested in group behavior focusing on social, gender, and racial empowerment, marital and family counseling, and criminology. Those who are interested in Psychology are interested in personal growth, counseling and other mental health services, or fields that involve individual human interaction such as retail, human resources, and public relations.
